About the role
- Lead Medical Coding team, including assigning tasks, setting goals, and conducting performance evaluations
- Oversee all aspects of the medical coding process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS
- Implement best practices to optimize coding efficiency and productivity
- Stay informed about changes in coding regulations and healthcare compliance requirements (HIPAA, etc.)
- Provide ongoing training and education to coding staff; mentor team members
- Collaborate with revenue cycle management, clinical documentation improvement, and compliance
- Develop reports and presentations to communicate coding trends to senior management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any related field; Master's degree preferred
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in medical coding, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding systems, and related guidelines
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, Medicare billing rules
- Proficiency in coding software and EHR systems
- Experience with revenue cycle management processes
- Familiarity with encoders, grouper software, and CAC systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills
