About the role

  • Produce and publish 10-15 social media posts per week across MediaJustice’s platforms (Instagram, BlueSky, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube) that align with MediaJustice’s narrative priorities and annual plan.
  • Respond to rapid response communications needs for community groups MediaJustice partners with on the ground within 24-48 hours, including incorporating relevant and timely news stories.
  • Grow MediaJustice’s social media audience by 20-30% every 12 months through platform-specific strategies, consistent posting and community engagement.
  • Create original multimedia content including short-form videos (Reels, TikToks), graphics, and written copy that translates complex media and tech issues into accessible, shareable content.
  • Manage daily community engagement including responding to comments, DMs, mentions within 24 hours to build and maintain an engaged online community.
  • Consistently monitor platform changes and trends to inform ongoing content development.
  • Track and report monthly audience growth, engagement rates and high performing content to inform ongoing communications strategy.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience creating and managing social media content, preferably for a nonprofit, advocacy organization, or mission-driven brand.
  • Proven track record of audience growth within the last 1-2 years, being able to provide specific examples of follower and engagement rate increases achieved
  • Demonstrated expertise across Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn, YouTube and Facebook including deep understanding of platform algorithms, best practices, and content format that drive engagement in each.
  • Experience using social media management and analytical tools (Hoot Suite, Sprout Social or similar) to schedule content and track performance.
  • Ability to translate complex policy and organizing work into high-performing written copy, videos and graphics that resonates with audiences.
  • Proficiency creating multimedia content including: Short-form video (Reels, TikToks, Stories) Graphics using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite Written copy optimized for each platform
  • A demonstrated commitment to and systemic understanding of racial, gender, and economic justice.
