About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Managing the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or SAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Overseeing general ledger activities, including reviewing reconciliations, ensuring proper journal entries, and resolving discrepancies.
Leading month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Owning audit processes by coordinating with external auditors, preparing documentation, and ensuring timely completion of GAAP and statutory audits.
Managing relationships with external tax advisors, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all federal, state, and local tax filings.
Developing, documenting, and maintaining effective internal controls over financial reporting, while identifying and implementing process improvements.
Mentoring and developing accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience operating in a regulated environment (insurance or public accounting experience preferred)
Proven experience supporting audits, managing close processes, and implementing internal controls
Advanced proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for stakeholders.
