About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • - All of Band 1 profile with light touch / no supervision required.
  • - Undertake advocacy, drafting and advisory work; including but not limited to: settling pleadings (including complex fraud defences; higher value etc), interlocutory hearings, small claims trials, fast track trials, CCMCs, sanctions (including private prosecution) and recoveries.
  • - Assisting more senior members of the team in the delivery of the above.
  • - Become technical specialist in Keoghs core practice areas and develop niche speciality.
  • - Deliver advocacy and litigation training / updates for fee earners.
  • - Assist in and/or direct supervision / mentoring of Band One Advocates.
  • - Undertake client facing, product development tasks as required.
  • - Assist in the development of the in house advocacy team.
  • - Obtain higher rights of audience (if not already obtained in Band 1).

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • - If Barrister – Full practising certificate.
  • - If Solicitor – Higher Rights of Audience or Ability to demonstrate related experience / Enthusiasm to develop advocacy career.
  • - In either case 3-10(+) years call or PQE
  • - Experience in one or more of insurance fraud; general PI; EL/PL, costs, large loss and/or professional negligence.
  • - Trial experience preferred.
  • - High quality paperwork within competencies with minimal to no supervision.
  • - If Solicitor without Higher Rights; completion of the external course to qualify for Higher Rights is anticipated within career path
