About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist the physician in assessing patient needs using history, observation, physical examination, telephone triage, and diagnostic data
  • Perform direct patient care including triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge, and follow-up instructions
  • Prepare patients for physician visits and document vital signs, history, chief complaints, and relevant information in medical records
  • Perform specialized tests including audiometry, electrocardiography, inhalation treatments, and selected laboratory procedures
  • Prepare medications and administer injections as ordered
  • Assist the physician with treatments and procedures
  • Schedule testing and referral appointments
  • Handle patient telephone calls and perform follow-up calls
  • Clean and maintain examination rooms, instruments, and equipment according to OSHA standards
  • Maintain medical supply inventory, check medication and vaccine expiration dates, dispose of outdated medications, and order supplies
  • Maintain knowledge of required equipment and report malfunctions
  • Support continuing education, chart audits, quality assurance projects, and the practice mission
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Licensed Practical Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Computer skills required
  • Study level listed as Technical Diploma
