About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own architectural direction for CMM’s core platform domains and shape platform investment decisions
  • Develop and ratify architectural standards through the CMM Architecture Review Board
  • Build and maintain reference architectures and reusable patterns
  • Identify architectural debt, structural risks, and emerging platform gaps
  • Maintain and socialize a technology radar across platform domains
  • Serve as embedded architectural partner on high-profile value stream initiatives
  • Ensure workloads use the platform as intended and avoid integration debt
  • Translate platform gaps into platform capability proposals and drive them through
  • Invest in engineering capability through design reviews, architecture guilds, and documentation
  • Develop architects and senior engineers working at platform-wide scope
  • Partner with engineering leaders on platform-wide technical decisions
  • Communicate architectural direction through frameworks, patterns, and lightweight governance processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree or equivalent and typically 13+ years of relevant experience
  • At least 8 years of direct software and platform architecture work
  • Significant experience in principal-level or senior individual contributor roles with cross-system architectural scope
  • 13+ years of software and platform engineering experience
  • Ability to prototype in critical platform areas and conduct rigorous code and architecture reviews
  • Experience setting architectural direction for complex, cloud-native platforms
  • Deep expertise in at least two platform domains: cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and delivery platforms, developer experience tooling, security and compliance architecture, or API and service design patterns
  • Breadth across infrastructure, deployment, application architecture, integration patterns, and developer experience
  • Ability to influence technical direction without organizational authority
  • Experience developing and ratifying architectural standards in an ARB, TAB, or equivalent governance context
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Recognition within the broader software engineering community through contributions, publications, conferences, or community engagement
  • Healthcare technology or regulated data environment experience is an additional skill
  • Familiarity with Internal Developer Platform design patterns and self-service workflow automation is an additional skill
  • AI/ML infrastructure pattern experience is an additional skill
  • Experience in federated engineering organizations is an additional skill
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • No visa sponsorship currently or in the future
