About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define end-to-end architecture spanning data pipelines, application services, and AI/ML workloads
Design and deliver ingestion, transformation, storage, and governance for genomic and clinical data
Architect and implement robust back-end services, APIs, and front-end experiences
Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML and GenAI capabilities
Establish MLOps foundations for training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and responsible AI
Set standards for code quality, testing, security, scalability, and HIPAA/PHI compliance
Shape multi-quarter technical roadmaps and make build/buy and platform decisions
Mentor engineers, lead design and code reviews, and grow technical talent
Evaluate and introduce technologies, frameworks, and practices
Translate business needs from clients, account management, and clinical stakeholders into technical solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Degree or equivalent and typically 10+ years of relevant experience
10+ years of software engineering experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
Demonstrated technical leadership on large, complex, distributed systems
Deep expertise in at least two of data engineering, software engineering, and AI/ML engineering, with working fluency across all three
Experience designing and operating distributed systems and data-intensive applications at scale
Proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, C#, Go, or TypeScript
Strong command of SQL and big-data or streaming frameworks
Hands-on experience building and deploying production AI/ML systems using TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
Knowledge of design patterns, object-oriented principles, automated testing, and CI/CD
Knowledge of pipeline orchestration, data modeling, warehouse/lakehouse architectures, data quality, lineage, and governance
Knowledge of model development, LLM/GenAI application patterns, MLOps, evaluation, and responsible and secure AI practices
Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; infrastructure-as-code, containers, Kubernetes, and observability
Ability to mentor engineers, set technical vision, and lead through influence
Healthcare, genomics, or life-sciences experience and regulated-data familiarity are a strong plus
