About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and evolve architecture for enterprise EDI/B2B platforms
  • Translate business objectives into secure, resilient, high-performing integration designs
  • Provide technical leadership for platform operations and ensure KPIs for availability, throughput, transaction integrity, and partner experience
  • Lead resolution of systemic issues and major disruptions
  • Drive modernization initiatives that reduce technical debt and improve scalability, resilience, and execution speed
  • Enable API-led and event-driven integration patterns
  • Serve as a hands-on SME for complex EDI/B2B integration scenarios
  • Guide engineering teams on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization
  • Establish architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices
  • Lead architecture and design reviews
  • Drive automation and AI-led improvements for operational efficiency, observability, and decision-making
  • Partner with business, product, and external stakeholders on architecture, customer experience, growth, transformation, and vendor selection

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree or equivalent and typically 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 10+ years of software engineering and architecture experience focused on enterprise integration and EDI/B2B ecosystems
  • Expertise designing and operating large-scale distributed systems for high-volume, mission-critical transaction processing
  • Hands-on experience across the EDI lifecycle, including partner onboarding, data transformation, connectivity protocols, and transaction orchestration
  • Ability to balance platform operations accountability with architecture and modernization initiatives
  • Understanding of reliability, observability, performance optimization, and incident management
  • Experience using automation and emerging AI capabilities to improve platform efficiency, scalability, and decision-making
  • Ability to influence architecture and guide technical direction across cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Strong communication skills for translating technical concepts into business and executive messaging
  • Experience with cloud adoption, API-led, and event-driven integration patterns is nice to have
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or supply chain environments is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. now or in the future without McKesson sponsorship
