About the role
- Lead all phases of project delivery—initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure—ensuring successful outcomes across multiple simultaneous initiatives.
- Develop and manage robust project plans that reflect a deep understanding of scope, dependencies, risks, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
- Proactively monitor and control project performance, identifying risks early and implementing mitigation strategies with confidence and transparency.
- Serve as the central point of accountability for project success, maintaining full visibility into status, challenges, and progress.
- Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, aligning project goals with business strategy and negotiating realistic expectations.
- Integrate vendor deliverables seamlessly into project plans, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Uphold McKesson’s project management standards and methodologies, driving consistency and excellence across all engagements.
- Deliver clear, concise, and impactful status updates to leadership and stakeholders, demonstrating ownership and strategic insight.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive experience in project management.
- 5+ years of experience leading software implementation projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to operate independently in fast-paced environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%; must reside near a major airport.
- Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to lead conversations, influence outcomes, and tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive mindset and a bias for action.
- Ability to navigate internal challenges with poise, leveraging relationships to drive progress.
- Comfortable making decisions and taking initiative, even in ambiguous situations.
- Willingness to mentor and elevate others, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with project management frameworks such as CMMI, PMBOK, and Six Sigma.
- Understanding of PHI & PCI data handling requirements and software development lifecycles.
