About the role

  • Lead all phases of project delivery—initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure—ensuring successful outcomes across multiple simultaneous initiatives.
  • Develop and manage robust project plans that reflect a deep understanding of scope, dependencies, risks, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Proactively monitor and control project performance, identifying risks early and implementing mitigation strategies with confidence and transparency.
  • Serve as the central point of accountability for project success, maintaining full visibility into status, challenges, and progress.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, aligning project goals with business strategy and negotiating realistic expectations.
  • Integrate vendor deliverables seamlessly into project plans, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Uphold McKesson’s project management standards and methodologies, driving consistency and excellence across all engagements.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and impactful status updates to leadership and stakeholders, demonstrating ownership and strategic insight.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in project management.
  • 5+ years of experience leading software implementation projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to operate independently in fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%; must reside near a major airport.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to lead conversations, influence outcomes, and tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive mindset and a bias for action.
  • Ability to navigate internal challenges with poise, leveraging relationships to drive progress.
  • Comfortable making decisions and taking initiative, even in ambiguous situations.
  • Willingness to mentor and elevate others, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with project management frameworks such as CMMI, PMBOK, and Six Sigma.
  • Understanding of PHI & PCI data handling requirements and software development lifecycles.
