About the role
- Represent mortgage lenders and investor clients in commercial and residential foreclosure, title disputes and real estate litigation
- Make appearances in state and federal court for routine and contested hearings
- Review incoming litigation and develop case strategy
- Draft documents and prepare motions, written discovery and responses
- Conduct settlement negotiations
- Manage caseload of contested matters on behalf of residential and commercial mortgage lenders and investors
- Communicate with clients regularly for updates and case resolution
- Analyze loan files, title reports and other client documents
Requirements
- J.D. degree, licensed in Texas and in good standing with the Texas Bar
- 2-5 years relevant Litigation experience (5-8+ years preferred)
- 2-5 years motion practice experience (5-8+ years preferred)
- 2-5 years courtroom experience (5-8+ years preferred)
- Knowledge of Texas Mortgage Foreclosure Law
- Knowledge of Texas Code of Civil Procedure and Supreme Court Rules
- Previous experience with foreclosure litigation involving residential and commercial property preferred but not required
- Effectively manage time and priorities
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to effectively communicate written and oral
- Ability to work independently or in a group/team setting
- Ability to maintain high level of professionalism
- Ability to interact and communicate well with clients, staff, peers and management of all levels
