About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist business development team members and lawyers in executing business plans and client strategies
  • Track implementation and progress against business plans
  • Communicate successes, best practices, and group activities internally across Business Development & Marketing groups and offices
  • Support thought leadership publications and offerings, including project management and data mining for business-development opportunities
  • Distribute thought leadership materials across Firm offices, practices, client teams, and external platforms such as LinkedIn
  • Plan and execute podcasts, video recordings, seminars, sponsorships, and other Firm events
  • Coordinate event logistics, meeting rooms, conferencing, setup, materials, invitations, RSVPs, communications, CLE credit, and catering
  • Attend meetings and events to provide on-site support
  • Support research, data collection and analysis, directory submissions, matter coding, economic reporting, intranet development and maintenance, and internal meetings
  • Collect global matter data for technology transactions and intellectual property practices
  • Manage the matter database and ensure data quality and firm-wide availability
  • Develop and maintain industry survey and directory-ranking content and results
  • Respond to industry survey requests and directory-ranking submissions
  • Track global pipeline activities
  • Conduct research, analysis, and competitive intelligence gathering for strategic planning and business development
  • Identify speaking opportunities
  • Review and consult with lawyers on profiles, biographies, and practice descriptions to keep them current
  • Use the Firm’s InterAction CRM database to pull reports, create invitation contact lists, and maintain contact lists
  • Support proposal and presentation development by gathering information, drafting language, editing, proofreading, and managing delivery against deadlines
  • Develop and maintain group-specific marketing content, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, website/blog content, social media posts, and biographies
  • Provide local office support for seminars, sponsorships, events, and other initiatives
  • Manage projects and processes independently with limited supervision
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior department members
  • Communicate graphic-design processes, best practices, and Firm policies to stakeholders and colleagues
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet Firm goals and objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, marketing, communications, English, or another discipline requiring analytical and advanced writing and research skills
  • Six years in a business development, marketing and/or research-related position in the professional services arena, preferably law
  • Demonstrated understanding of the intellectual property market preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency with scheduling and participating in video conferences in a professional setting
  • Familiarity with accepted research techniques and competitive intelligence databases such as Manzama, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, LexisNexis, and Lexology
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and mature, professional, personable presentation and demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Good judgment and problem-solving capabilities
  • Team-first and client-service orientation
  • Ability to work under shifting priorities, deadlines, and pressure
