About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Leverage a system-level understanding of products and technologies to support cross-functional engineering efforts
  • Serve as the primary systems engineering point of contact for projects targeting Japan customers and coordinate with the local Japan team
  • Identify, analyze, and translate Japan-specific regulatory, safety, and customer requirements into technical system specifications for fully autonomous vehicles
  • Develop and execute methods for identifying and documenting Japan-specific Operational Design Domain (ODD)
  • Analyze real-world and simulation results to identify performance trends, uncover potential issues, and provide improvement insights
  • Develop and execute system test and validation plans derived from documented system requirements
  • Lead engineering process continuous improvement activities and gain buy-in from impacted teams
  • Conduct FMEA and manage resolution of identified findings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • 5+ years experience in automotive engineering working on software, hardware, or combined hardware/software products and 2+ years experience working on autonomous driving systems
  • Knowledge of automotive and autonomous vehicle technologies
  • Experience supporting Japan-based projects
  • Experience with Python, SQL, and data analysis tools such as Pandas, NumPy, and Spark
  • Strong working knowledge of autonomous vehicle software and systems
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly-organized
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Understanding of agile startup and engineering principles and mindset
  • Ability to display systems thinking and attention to detail
  • Detailed knowledge of requirements management and requirement-based design
  • Ability to develop, document, and execute system-level testing and validation plans
  • Standard office working conditions, including prolonged sitting, standing, and computer use
  • Moderate travel required: 10%-20%
  • A master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is desirable
  • Experience working in a startup is desirable
  • Japanese language experience is desirable
