About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead client-facing Epic data acquisition engagements end to end
  • Scope required data with client stakeholders and define extraction approaches
  • Partner with client Epic teams to secure access, agree on extraction methods, and remove blockers
  • Travel to client health system sites for on-site data acquisition work, discovery sessions, and issue resolution
  • Coordinate across client IT, Epic/informatics, and operations teams
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact during client engagements
  • Design and oversee Epic data extraction using Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Epic Bridges, HL7 v2, FHIR R4, and SMART on FHIR
  • Define and document interface and report specifications for required data feeds and HL7 messages
  • Map client-specific Epic data to VytlOne’s canonical data model and maintain the data input matrix
  • Establish reusable extraction patterns, onboarding playbooks, and team standards
  • Lead validation, reconciliation, and quality checks before hand-off to platform and analytics teams
  • Serve as senior escalation point for complex integration issues
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, BAAs, minimum-necessary principles, and HRSA 340B requirements
  • Coordinate secure connectivity and PGP-encrypted SFTP with client IT and security
  • Coordinate with data platform, analytics, 340B business teams, and external partners
  • Mentor mid-level analysts and review specifications and extract designs
  • Contribute to estimation, planning, and status reporting
  • Develop end-to-end knowledge of client data flows and identify improvement opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of directly related experience working with Epic in a health system, health IT, integration, or vendor capacity
  • Client-facing or consulting experience leading on-site engagements and building customer relationships
  • Experience extracting Epic data using Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, and Epic Bridges
  • Strong experience with HL7 v2, including ADT, SIU, ORM/ORU, and REF; FHIR R4; and SMART on FHIR
  • Experience delivering file-based data feeds via PGP-encrypted SFTP
  • Experience gathering requirements and coordinating data extraction with external client technical teams
  • Working knowledge of Epic’s Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle data models
  • Experience translating source data to a target or canonical data model
  • Healthcare data experience and strong understanding of PHI handling under HIPAA and BAAs
  • Advanced SQL for data extraction, profiling, and validation
  • Experience leading or mentoring analysts and setting technical standards
  • Experience delivering data or integration projects using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop data flow, interface, application, and integration diagrams
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Strong client-facing and consultative skills
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Strong experience in data validation, user testing, and project coordination
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Experience leading, developing, and participating in top-performing teams
  • Epic Willow pharmacy data experience desirable
  • 340B program and/or specialty pharmacy data experience strongly desired
  • Epic certification preferred; VytlOne will sponsor certification for qualified candidates
  • Azure Cloud project experience desirable
  • Knowledge of JIRA and ServiceNow desirable
