About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as a key technical security partner across AI, Enterprise Architecture, and Business Development teams
Shape secure, compliant solutions by engaging early, guiding design decisions, and keeping teams aligned
Determine security requirements through business and technical assessments, standards research, vulnerability analysis, risk assessments, and architecture reviews
Develop security requirements and strategies and oversee projects through implementation
Work with information security and information technology teams to assimilate and validate technology changes
Define security requirements for information technologies and solutions
Partner with technical architects to maintain consistency with enterprise architecture processes and practices
Ensure information security controls meet regulatory and contractual requirements
Research emerging technologies and evaluate technical trends and requirements
Provide subject matter expertise and collect artifacts for internal and external compliance activities
Develop strategic relationships and organizational partnerships
Provide security architecture and technical security guidance to solution owners across OCTO, AI, Solution Architecture, and Business Development teams
Act as a technical ISO stakeholder in Enterprise Risk and Assurance activities
Translate security requirements, standards, and controls into actionable guidance
Identify solution-level security risks and define mitigating controls with stakeholders
Communicate initiatives, designs, and security or compliance considerations to ISO leadership
Document architecture decisions, risks, and accepted exceptions for audit and assurance
Identify recurring architectural risk patterns and escalate systemic issues for remediation planning
Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
Professional security certification such as CISSP or CCSP desired
Seven or more years of experience in information technology
5+ years of experience in Security Architecture and/or Security Engineering
Experience working with the US Federal government as a current/previous federal employee or federal contractor in security architecture or security engineering
Strong experience with security architecture principles, patterns, and risk-based design approaches
Experience creating and reading reference architectures
Understanding of how business objectives, contracts, and regulatory obligations influence security architecture decisions
Knowledge of NIST 800-53 Security and Privacy Controls
Knowledge of NIST 800-171 Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems and Organizations
Knowledge of federal compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements
Understanding of CI/CD Pipelines
Knowledge of enterprise-level internal controls and security standards
Knowledge of compliance and assurance requirements across regulated environments
Experience with cloud security in AWS and/or Azure environments
Ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly to diverse audiences
US Citizenship is required
Ability to travel up to 10% based on business need
Preferred: experience writing contract language for government proposals
Preferred: DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
Preferred: other NIST secure system standards
