About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver general OPM healthcare enrollment information to callers
- Enroll callers into their healthcare plan of choice
- Provide healthcare plan information, enrollment guidelines, and general OPM healthcare background
- Provide customer service through telephone, email, web chat, and written letters
- Handle routine inquiries and problems, with deviations from standard screens, scripts, and procedures when needed
- Use computerized systems for tracking, information gathering, and troubleshooting
- Accept and assist customers transferred from Customer Service Representative I
- Refer customers to published materials, secondary sources, other agencies, or senior staff
- Provide reference material locations to Customer Service Representative I
- Respond to escalations by consulting the Customer Service Supervisor
- Provide input on call trends, processes, procedures, and training
- Suggest process improvements to the Customer Service Supervisor
- Follow documented policies, standard operating procedures, timesheet procedures, and privacy rules
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of customer service experience
- Minimum 60 days’ experience as an OPM Customer Service Representative I required
- Experience answering OPM calls required
- Ability to speak and read English and Spanish clearly, professionally, and fluently
- Typing speed of at least 20 WPM
- Ability to work within established contractual turnaround times
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to organize simultaneous tasks
- Ability to work as a team member
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Must pass a government background check
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Internet speed of at least 25 Mbps, or 50 Mbps for shared connectivity
- Minimum 5 Mbps upload speed
- Category 5 or 6 Ethernet connection to the home internet router
- Private work area and adequate power source
- May be required to work scheduled holidays
- Must be available to work from September to December for the approximately 6–8 week position
