About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide advanced clinical inquiry responses, verbally and in writing, to health-related inquiries from consumers, educators, medical and health professionals, state and local health departments, and government offices
  • Provide medical subject matter expertise on CDC topics, including HIV/AIDS, immunizations, environmental health, NIOSH, tuberculosis, and statistics
  • Respond to inquiries related to current events such as food outbreaks, natural disasters, bioterrorism, first responders, and national emergency situations
  • Perform advanced database searches
  • Compose documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Document all incoming inquiries
  • Perform assigned work according to quality assurance measures
  • Participate in special projects as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active, valid RN license required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Fluent in English and Spanish; able to speak and read both clearly, professionally, and fluently
  • High School diploma or equivalent with 2–4 years of experience
  • Experience in a medical, scientific, or public health discipline
  • Clinical knowledge and experience with CDC-related topics
  • Proficient internet search skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn software applications
  • Excellent listening, comprehension, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to organize simultaneous tasks
  • Ability to commit to two weeks of training, 8:00am–4:30pm EST, Monday–Friday
  • Ability to work 11:30am–8:00pm EST, Monday–Friday, after training
  • Extended weekend and/or holiday hours may occasionally be required
  • Must use a personal computer or laptop during training; tablets, iPads, Chromebooks, and notebooks are not permitted
  • Internet speed of at least 25 Mbps, or 50 Mbps for shared connectivity
  • Minimum 5 Mbps upload speed
  • Category 5 or 6 ethernet connection to the home router
  • Windows 10/11 or macOS Big Sur, Catalina, or Monterey
  • Private, secure work area and adequate power source
  • Must currently and permanently reside in the Continental US
  • Smartphone required to log into Maximus systems
