About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform cost allocation and cost of service studies for state and local governments
  • Support projects and initiatives by analyzing costs, processes, and procedures for government agencies
  • Gather client financial information, analyze accounts, and prepare reports documenting findings
  • Produce project deliverables meeting scope, financial, and timeline requirements
  • Analyze complex data to identify patterns, recommend actions, and measure outcomes
  • Present findings verbally and in writing
  • Research existing and new state and federal regulations
  • Facilitate client and teammate meetings and conduct interviews
  • Achieve or exceed client satisfaction metrics
  • Manage project activities according to company policies and procedures
  • Develop strong client relationships
  • Participate in responding to public solicitations
  • Identify additional product and service opportunities in customer organizations
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Perform other duties assigned by management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree with 0–3 years of experience consulting within the designated function, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in lieu of the degree
  • Ability to develop solutions to moderately complex problems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially advanced Microsoft Excel, Pivot Tables, and VLOOKUPs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience applying algebra and mathematics involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
  • Ability to prepare and present clear, concise, client-ready documents with superior attention to detail
  • Must reside within a commutable distance of the Springfield, IL office
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite in Springfield, IL as well as remotely
  • Preferred: 6+ months of related work experience or equivalent internship
  • Understanding of cost accounting and cost allocation concepts
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting principles
  • Familiarity with local government operations
  • Internet speed of 20 Mbps or higher for the home office
  • Wi-Fi or Category 5/6 Ethernet connectivity to the home router
  • Must currently and permanently reside in the Continental US
