About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the monthly close process end-to-end and manage the outsourced bookkeeping partner
- Own revenue recognition under ASC 606 for SaaS contracts
- Oversee Accounts Payable through Ramp, including vendor management, approvals, and spend controls
- Manage Accounts Receivable and collections
- Coordinate payroll and benefits with HR and the PEO, including reviewing sales commission calculations
- Maintain accounting policies and internal controls in QuickBooks Online
- Manage SaaS sales tax and nexus compliance
- Build audit-ready documentation and workpapers
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning with the CFO
- Manage cash and treasury, runway modeling, and banking relationships
- Track and analyze SaaS metrics and reconcile them to the general ledger
- Prepare monthly investor updates and quarterly board reporting
- Support strategic projects including pricing analysis, unit economics, headcount planning, and fundraising
- Evaluate, select, and implement finance tools
- Document scalable finance processes and build the finance team playbook
- Hire and mentor initial accounting team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4–5 years of total finance/accounting experience
- 2–3 years at a Big Four firm (KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, or EY), ideally in audit
- 1–2 years of startup industry experience, preferably at Series A or B
- SaaS experience strongly preferred, ideally with hands-on ASC 606 and SaaS metrics exposure
- Strong command of accounting fundamentals and the monthly close
- Experience managing outsourced partners and owning outcomes
- Ability to research technical accounting questions, form a view, and drive resolution
- Detail-oriented and organized
- CPA active or in progress is nice to have
- Experience implementing or improving finance systems is nice to have
- Exposure to equity/cap table administration using Carta is nice to have
- Experience mentoring or managing direct reports is nice to have
