About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and build scalable Power BI data models optimized for enterprise-scale performance
Write advanced DAX and optimize Power Query transformations
Implement row-level security, workspace governance, and Dev/Test/Prod deployment pipelines
Configure gateways, dataflows, incremental refresh, and integrations with enterprise data platforms
Build paginated reports, embedded analytics, and Power Platform integrations
Establish data governance, naming conventions, and semantic model documentation standards
Troubleshoot performance using Performance Analyzer, DAX Studio, and Tabular Editor
Apply data visualization and information design principles to reports
Design narrative dashboards with intentional layouts and drill paths
Ensure accessibility across deliverables
Create and maintain JSON themes, typography, spacing, and branded BI templates
Conduct usability reviews and iterate based on user behavior
Map user journeys and lead discovery workshops
Translate business requests into KPIs, data sources, and success metrics
Build wireframes and mockups before development
Facilitate UAT sessions and office hours to drive adoption
Define and track report adoption and usage metrics
Advise client stakeholders and translate technical concepts into business value
Lead or support proposal development, SOWs, and estimation
Present findings and design rationale in client-facing settings
Mentor junior developers and analysts
Contribute to internal BI accelerators, templates, and reusable frameworks

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience, including at least 2 years in a senior/lead capacity
Expert-level DAX and Power Query (M) skills
Strong data modeling fundamentals, including dimensional modeling, star schema, and normalization trade-offs
Demonstrated experience designing dashboards with a UX/UI lens
Proven ability to run stakeholder workshops and gather requirements independently
Solid SQL skills
Experience with at least one enterprise data platform: Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or SQL Server
Consulting or client-facing delivery experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable presenting to senior leadership
