About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design control system architectures based on established standards
- Perform the calculations required for selecting servo motors and control components
- Design and perform calculations for pneumatic circuits
- Develop process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Set up robot configurations
- Estimate the costs of control systems and electrical installations
- Develop system operating modes
- Lead and coordinate the design of control panels with subcontractors
- Ensure that project budgets are met and objectives are achieved
- Define the workload based on deadlines and information provided by the client
- Track project progress
- Coordinate electrical installation work in collaboration with the electrician
- Perform machine safety risk assessments
- Conduct on-site measurements at manufacturing facilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- DEC or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or automated production engineering
- 3 years of relevant experience in automation, including programmable logic controllers, servo motors, robotics, variable frequency drives, and pneumatic and hydraulic circuits
- Comfortable communicating in English
- Knowledge of the manufacturing and food-processing industries
- Knowledge of machine safety standards
- Self-motivated and resourceful
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Canada and the United States
- Knowledge of power electrical installations (600 V and below) is an asset
- Knowledge of Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC product lines is an asset
- Good knowledge of electrical codes is an asset
