About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design control system architectures based on established standards
Perform the calculations required to select servo motors and control components
Design pneumatic circuits and perform the related calculations
Develop process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Configure robot systems
Estimate the costs of control systems and electrical installations
Develop system operating modes
Lead and coordinate the design of control enclosures with subcontractors
Meet project budgets and objectives
Define the workload based on deadlines and information provided by the client
Track project progress
Coordinate electrical installation work with the electrician
Conduct machine safety risk assessments
Take measurements and gather information at customer facilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

College diploma (DEC) or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or automated production engineering
3 years of relevant experience in automation, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), servo motors, robotics, variable frequency drives, and pneumatic and hydraulic circuits
Comfortable communicating in English
English proficiency is required to communicate with English-speaking clients
Knowledge of the manufacturing and food-processing industries
Knowledge of machine safety standards
Self-motivated and resourceful
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively
Availability for occasional travel in Canada and the United States
Knowledge of electrical power installations (600 V and below) is an asset
Knowledge of Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC product lines is an asset
Good knowledge of the electrical code is an asset
