About the role
- Diagnose technical and business pain, confirming root causes and negative consequences (Discovering Customer Requirements)
- Engage key stakeholders to confirm desired future state, mapping it to success metrics and business outcomes (Discovering Customer Requirements)
- Support customer digital sales rooms, providing technical input and ensuring alignment between sales and technical teams (Discovering Customer Requirements)
- Deliver tailored demos that align with business issues, decision criteria, and outcomes (Qualifying Use Cases)
- Articulate how our platform solves customer challenges, differentiate against competitors, and verify with real-world proof points (Qualifying Use Cases)
- Lead workshops, trials, or POCs to validate solution fit with business objectives (Validating Solution Fit)
- Position competitive advantages to influence trial success criteria and guide customer teams to integrate solutions into their data stacks during trials (Validating Solution Fit)
- Support technical aspects of credit sizing estimates (Validating Solution Fit)
- Document customer insights during the sales cycle to ensure a smooth handoff to TAMs for successful implementations (Customer Onboarding and Growth)
- Actively support customer cadences and business review meetings ensuring platform adoption and driving customer engagement (Customer Onboarding and Growth)
- Identify and drive opportunities for upselling and expansion, increasing platform consumption through new workloads and groups (Customer Onboarding and Growth)
- Create technical content and case studies that demonstrate how Matillion’s solutions address customer challenges (Marketing and Thought Leadership)
- Represent Matillion as a technical expert at industry events, conferences, and user groups (Marketing and Thought Leadership)
- Collect and communicate customer feedback to the Product and Engineering teams to ensure continuous product improvements (Product Feedback & Improvement)
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in data integration, cloud computing, and data transformation, sharing insights with customers and internal teams (Product Feedback & Improvement)
Requirements
- 5-7 years working with Enterprise customers in a technical role, such as Solution Architect, Sales Engineer, or similar
- Strong experience in solution selling, demonstrating value through tailored software presentations and overcoming technical objections
- Expertise in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with Cloud Data Platforms like Snowflake and Databricks
- In-depth understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
- In-depth understanding of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
- Hands-on experience with technical problem-solving and integration technologies (APIs, Linux, SQL)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience using Salesforce
- Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience using and preferably selling AI and agentic AI solutions (nice to have)
- Knowledge of Matillion’s Data Productivity Cloud or Matillion ETL platforms as well as competitive ETL solutions (nice to have)
- Experience with value-based sales motion, especially through MEDDPPICC and Command of the Message (nice to have)
- Knowledge of big data technologies (Spark, PySpark), data lakes, and MPP databases (Teradata, Vertica, Netezza) (nice to have)
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git, and experience with Python (nice to have)
