About the role
- Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll accurately and on time
- Validate payroll data, including gross-to-net calculations, deductions, and tax withholdings
- Ensure all payroll inputs are approved, accurate, and compliant prior to processing
- Audit payroll reports and make adjustments as needed to maintain data integrity
- Manage and upload EIBs within Workday to support payroll and HR data updates
- Partner with HR to ensure accurate employee data (new hires, terminations, transfers, compensation changes)
- Support special payroll cycles, including bonuses and year-end adjustments
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries related to payroll, taxes, PTO, garnishments, and pay discrepancies
- Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and partner with third-party vendors to resolve issues
- Collaborate with Accounting on payroll allocations and reporting needs
- Prepare payroll funding reports for Treasury
- Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws and payroll regulations
- Contribute to process improvements and support additional payroll-related projects as needed
Requirements
- 2–3 years of payroll experience, ideally supporting multi-state payroll
- Working knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and wage and hour laws
- Experience with Workday (or similar HRIS/payroll systems)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive, confidential information
- Intermediate Excel skills and comfort working across Microsoft Office tools
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a willingness to take initiative
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to build relationships across teams
