About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in a variety of complex civil litigation matters
- Work on complex civil litigation teams challenging federal actions
- Maintain an active caseload, including working actively on litigation strategy, drafting pleadings, preparing and arguing dispositive motions, and trial
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief State Trial Counsel
- Support, lead and consult with Assistant Attorneys General on specific complex civil litigation matters
- Work closely with and assist the Chief State Trial Counsel to carry out OSTC’s mission.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar
- At least three (3) years of relevant civil litigation experience
- A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant complex civil litigation and trial experience for State Trial Counsel
- Knowledge of state and federal civil procedure
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced public sector law office and meet deadlines.
