About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and update coding education curricula based on current coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and webinars for coders and coding-related staff
- Create e-learning modules and online courses using multimedia tools and e-learning platforms
- Provide hands-on guidance to coders by reviewing coding accuracy and compliance
- Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement specialists on accurate and detailed medical documentation
- Conduct coding audits and provide detailed feedback to improve coding accuracy and proficiency
- Offer ongoing education on coding advancements and emerging healthcare trends
- Educate coders on compliance regulations, ethics, and fraud and abuse prevention
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Experience in lieu of a degree accepted
- 2–3 years of coding experience required
- Teaching experience preferred (1–2 years)
- One or more of: CCS, CPMA, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CHC, CPB
- Strong instructional skills
- In-depth understanding of coding guidelines, compliance regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with coding staff, trainers, managers, and other stakeholders
