About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and update coding education curricula based on current coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and webinars for coders and coding-related staff
  • Create e-learning modules and online courses using multimedia tools and e-learning platforms
  • Provide hands-on guidance to coders by reviewing coding accuracy and compliance
  • Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement specialists on accurate and detailed medical documentation
  • Conduct coding audits and provide detailed feedback to improve coding accuracy and proficiency
  • Offer ongoing education on coding advancements and emerging healthcare trends
  • Educate coders on compliance regulations, ethics, and fraud and abuse prevention

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience in lieu of a degree accepted
  • 2–3 years of coding experience required
  • Teaching experience preferred (1–2 years)
  • One or more of: CCS, CPMA, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CHC, CPB
  • Strong instructional skills
  • In-depth understanding of coding guidelines, compliance regulations, and industry standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coding staff, trainers, managers, and other stakeholders
