About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and update coding education curricula based on current coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices
Conduct training sessions, workshops, and webinars for coders and coding-related staff
Create e-learning modules and online courses using multimedia tools and e-learning platforms
Provide hands-on guidance to coders by reviewing coding accuracy and compliance
Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement specialists on accurate and detailed medical documentation
Conduct coding audits and provide detailed feedback to improve coding accuracy and proficiency
Offer ongoing education on coding advancements and emerging healthcare trends
Educate coders on compliance regulations, ethics, and fraud and abuse prevention

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management required
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Experience in lieu of a degree accepted
2–3 years of coding experience required
Teaching experience preferred (1–2 years)
One or more of: CCS, CPMA, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CHC, CPB
Strong instructional skills
In-depth understanding of coding guidelines, compliance regulations, and industry standards
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with coding staff, trainers, managers, and other stakeholders
