About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support healthcare teams with clinical and non-clinical patient services under healthcare provider direction
  • Interview patients and obtain medical information
  • Measure vital signs, weight, and height
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare equipment
  • Record medical histories, vital statistics, and test results in medical records
  • Perform office duties including answering telephones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms
  • Act as a liaison with other departments and advocate for patients using a positive customer service approach
  • Collect, log, and prepare blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens
  • Prepare, clean, and stock treatment rooms
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
  • Float between Hyde Park and West Roxbury sites
  • Cross-cover other Primary Care practices as staffing needs dictate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 0-1 year preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations
  • Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches
  • Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others
  • Flexibility preferred for cross-coverage of other Primary Care practices
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift 35lbs+ with an assisted device, carry 20-35lbs, and perform related movements and manipulations
  • Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (Massachusetts) preferred
