About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, managers, faculty, trainees, and HR partners on employee and labor relations matters.
- Conduct sensitive workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, violence, substance abuse, compliance, and privacy breaches.
- Prepare investigation reports, present findings, and recommend corrective or remedial actions.
- Provide coaching, conflict resolution, and guidance on performance, conduct, policies, and workplace concerns.
- Manage religious, disability, and pregnancy accommodation requests and facilitate the interactive dialogue process.
- Advise leaders on employment policies, policy violations, performance management, improvement plans, corrective measures, and terminations.
- Support grievance administration, arbitration, labor-management relationships, collective bargaining, and contract administration.
- Partner with HR, legal, compliance, patient safety, privacy, and other stakeholders on complex cases and agency responses.
- Use workforce dashboards, data, analytics, and climate surveys to identify trends, root causes, and workplace concerns.
- Develop action plans with Strategic HRBP and People & Organizational Development to address engagement and workplace issues.
- Deliver training, mentor Employee and Labor Relations Partners, lead projects, and act as a subject matter expert.
- Maintain knowledge of employment and labor laws and ensure policy compliance.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (JD) required
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5–7 years of Employee Relations/HR Business Partner experience required
- Business acumen and ability to support department/division action plans
- Critical evaluation and data analytic skills
- Leadership and navigation of department initiatives
- Consultation and guidance to leaders
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Relationship management and change management abilities
- Strong customer-service orientation
- Current knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and know when to escalate issues
- Ability to manage multiple commitments and priorities
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
- Availability during Monday–Friday Eastern business hours
- Flexibility for weekly onsite work and additional onsite presence for sensitive investigations
- Stable, secure, quiet, compliant remote workstation using MGB-issued equipment
