About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Directly support a Nurse Practitioner providing primary care services to an adult Medicaid population with complex medical needs
  • Room patients and assist with direct patient care
  • Conduct outreach calls
  • Manage in-basket tasks
  • Coordinate care
  • Support face-to-face patient visits
  • Provide cross-coverage for other providers and office staff as needed
  • Interview patients and obtain medical information
  • Measure vital signs, weight, and height
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare equipment
  • Record medical histories, vital statistics, and test results in medical records
  • Perform office duties including answering telephones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms
  • Act as a liaison with other departments and advocate for patients
  • Collect, log, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
  • Prepare, clean, and stock treatment rooms
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
  • Accompany the Nurse Practitioner on home visits throughout the North Shore region one weekday as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work: 0–1 year preferred
  • Medical Assistant Course or diploma program strongly preferred, or a minimum of 1 year professional experience
  • National MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT strongly preferred
  • Epic experience strongly preferred
  • Ambulatory/Outpatient experience strongly preferred
  • Primary Care experience strongly preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant credential preferred
  • Comfortable working with complex patient populations
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced primary care environment
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented
  • Must be available for Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts scheduled between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM
  • Must travel between the Saugus and Salem offices and may accompany the Nurse Practitioner on home visits throughout the North Shore region
