About the role
- Responsible for the coordination and planning of Infection Control activities.
- Provides guidance and consultation in the development, planning, and coordination of infection control.
- Conducts relevant investigations and develops reports pertinent to clinical risk management issues.
- Report communicable diseases to local and state health departments and complete public health department forms as needed.
- Utilize performance improvement methodology as a means of enacting change.
- Develops an annual surveillance plan based on the population(s) served, services provided, and analysis of surveillance data.
- Maintains records of actual potentially infectious patients and reports pertinent information to county, state, and federal agencies as required by law.
- Provides formal and informal education programs to hospital personnel as necessary or when directed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree in Infection Control, Public Health, Epidemiology, or Statistics preferred
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred upon hire
- Current Massachusetts’ licensure as a registered nurse preferred but not required
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience required
- Knowledge and experience in regulatory and other requirements related to Infection Prevention and Control
- Implementation of CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) surveillance and other surveillance for healthcare associated infections
- Application of commonly used performance metrics including Vizient, Leapfrog, CMS, others
