About the role
- Responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing
- Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups
- Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens
- May assist in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions
- Communicates effectively with patients and patient care teams
- Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Works fluently with computer programs and systems, and complies with HIPAA regulations
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License preferred
- Completion of a phlebotomy course preferred
- Demonstrates proficiency in proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work and manage time wisely
- Superior customer service skills
- Ability to show empathy and respect for patients' privacy
