About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review, monitor, and challenge risk registers and Risk & Control Self-Assessments.
- Monitor and report key risk exposures and emerging risks using risk indicators and control assessments.
- Assist with Risk Acceptance Requests, including assessments, approvals, action plans, and closure.
- Conduct periodic risk-register reviews for quality, completeness, and accuracy.
- Support risk assessments, gap analyses, thematic reviews, and control testing.
- Manage operational risk projects and initiatives.
- Analyze operational risk metrics and reports, providing independent insights and challenging risk-related decisions.
- Review and monitor operational risk events, including classification, loss reporting, root-cause analysis, and action plans.
- Review and challenge Key Risk Indicators.
- Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, and committee reports to management and governance forums.
- Provide risk advisory support to business units and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business units, compliance, and audit teams to strengthen the risk and control environment.
- Promote proactive risk-management practices through employee education and engagement.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and operational risk best practices.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in operational risk management or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and assess risks.
- Proficiency in risk assessment tools and techniques, including risk registers and control frameworks.
- Experience collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders to drive risk management initiatives.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex risk information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of risk management.
- Willingness to stay updated with industry developments and regulatory changes.
- Familiarity with banking industry regulatory and risk management requirements.
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
