Primary Care Physician

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides comprehensive, evidence-based primary care services for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in an outpatient practice setting
- Delivers preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
- Coordination of care, transitional care management, and support for population health and quality initiatives in alignment with organizational goals
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage common medical conditions seen in family medicine or internal medicine practice using evidence-based clinical standards
- Perform age- and condition-appropriate history and physical examinations and develop individualized treatment plans
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and screening tests as clinically indicated
- Prescribe medications and other therapies in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies
- Provide counseling and education regarding disease prevention, health maintenance, nutrition, medication adherence, and lifestyle modification
- Review and respond to laboratory, imaging, medication refill, referral, and patient message workflows in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record; EPIC experience preferred, training provided as applicable
- Participate in departmental, medical group, and hospital meetings, including quality, safety, access, patient experience, and performance improvement initiatives
- Support organizational goals related to patient access, panel management, productivity, clinical quality metrics, and patient satisfaction
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to promote efficient practice operations and a high-reliability care environment
- Supervise and/or collaborate with advanced practice providers, nursing staff, medical assistants, and other care team members as assigned
- Participate in call coverage, inbox coverage, and other physician coverage responsibilities consistent with practice and organizational standards
- Participate in education activities and, where applicable, support the teaching of students and/or residents.
Requirements
What you’ll need- MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathic medicine
- Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Successful completion of an accredited United States residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Current, unrestricted Virginia medical license, or eligibility for Virginia licensure
- Current DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain within required timeframe
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills with a commitment to patient-centered care
- Candidate must demonstrate commitment to clinical quality, service excellence, professionalism, and collaboration across the healthcare system
- Bilingual skills may be considered an asset based on community and practice needs.
