About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides comprehensive, evidence-based primary care services for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in an outpatient practice setting
  • Delivers preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
  • Coordination of care, transitional care management, and support for population health and quality initiatives in alignment with organizational goals
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage common medical conditions seen in family medicine or internal medicine practice using evidence-based clinical standards
  • Perform age- and condition-appropriate history and physical examinations and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and screening tests as clinically indicated
  • Prescribe medications and other therapies in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies
  • Provide counseling and education regarding disease prevention, health maintenance, nutrition, medication adherence, and lifestyle modification
  • Review and respond to laboratory, imaging, medication refill, referral, and patient message workflows in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record; EPIC experience preferred, training provided as applicable
  • Participate in departmental, medical group, and hospital meetings, including quality, safety, access, patient experience, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Support organizational goals related to patient access, panel management, productivity, clinical quality metrics, and patient satisfaction
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to promote efficient practice operations and a high-reliability care environment
  • Supervise and/or collaborate with advanced practice providers, nursing staff, medical assistants, and other care team members as assigned
  • Participate in call coverage, inbox coverage, and other physician coverage responsibilities consistent with practice and organizational standards
  • Participate in education activities and, where applicable, support the teaching of students and/or residents.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathic medicine
  • Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Successful completion of an accredited United States residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Current, unrestricted Virginia medical license, or eligibility for Virginia licensure
  • Current DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain within required timeframe
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills with a commitment to patient-centered care
  • Candidate must demonstrate commitment to clinical quality, service excellence, professionalism, and collaboration across the healthcare system
  • Bilingual skills may be considered an asset based on community and practice needs.
