About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide expert advice and guidance in line with our HR practices and procedures
  • Manage employee relations cases, such as performance and absence management, disciplinary and grievance, and appropriately challenging and investigating cases when needed
  • Coach managers on best practice, interpreting UK employment law, and managing casework from start to finish
  • Deliver HR introduction training to new managers
  • Support occupational health referrals and maintain strong, credible relationships with union and site representatives
  • Collaborate with the wider HR team on company and HR objectives
  • Provide valuable support on change management, complex employee relations, or policy overhauls

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience managing a varied and demanding employee relations caseload within a fast-paced environment
  • A strong working knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application
  • Experience providing expert advice and guidance to managers on policy interpretation and case management from start to finish
  • Experience in supporting managers through organisational change initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coach, influence, and appropriately challenge stakeholders
  • Accountability for your own workload, with the ability to manage priorities independently while knowing when to escalate complex or high-risk matters
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the initiative to identify process improvements and resolve issues effectively
  • Experience delivering HR training sessions or workshops
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience in maintaining accurate case logs, tracking absence data, and prioritising project work
  • Commitment to your own professional development, actively seeking opportunities to build capability and knowledge
  • Experience working within a unionised environment is highly advantageous
  • A CIPD Level 5 qualification is preferred, or equivalent experience
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the initiative to identify process improvements and resolve issues effectively
