About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support investment services for diverse institutional clients
- Collaborate with experts to build portfolios, evaluate asset managers, and analyze portfolio performance
- Support client leads or serve as a client lead based on experience, knowledge, and skills
- Work with client staff, investment committees, and boards to understand needs, objectives, and investment constraints
- Examine and monitor developments in the economy, global capital markets, and asset management community
- Communicate relevant market and industry updates to clients
- Use AI and technology-enabled tools
- Manage projects collaboratively by defining objectives, making recommendations, and ensuring timely, best-practice client deliverables
- Liaise with investment managers, custodians, and Mercer experts to gather and clarify client-specific data
- Support investment manager searches, investment structure reviews, asset allocation studies, new business presentations, and other investment activities
- Participate in or lead quarterly or ad-hoc client meetings
- Mentor and teach junior analysts
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with coursework in business or investment-related courses
- 5-10 years of relevant investment experience
- Actively pursuing or already obtained the CFA, CAIA, CIMA, or CIPM designation
- Knowledge of performance calculations, risk metrics, and portfolio construction
- Self-motivated and effective in a highly collaborative team environment
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing, dynamic setting
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills
- Experience presenting complex topics to clients with varying levels of sophistication, across both traditional and alternative investments
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and market conditions
- Adaptability and decisiveness
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience leading relationships with complex clients
- Demonstrable communication of both traditional and alternative investments to clients
- Familiarity with institutional clients and plan types, including defined contribution, defined benefit, endowment, foundation, insurance, and wealth management
