About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the Business Insurance Service team
  • Ensure retention and talent development of quality employees
  • Execute departmental initiatives aligned with business strategies and objectives
  • Support training and quality assurance programs
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring and onboarding new colleagues
  • Monitor and address employee workload and capacity
  • Ensure compliance with corporate programs and policies, including PTO, attendance, travel and expense reimbursement
  • Conduct regular one-on-one sessions, team meetings and departmental initiatives
  • Ensure agency management systems, files and operational procedures follow MMA quality standards
  • Conduct annual performance and compensation reviews
  • Develop personal development goals and discuss career paths
  • Manage annual budgets and key performance indicators reflecting growth goals and business conditions
  • Promote knowledge sharing regarding workflow, markets, products, legislative issues and best practices
  • Participate in leadership development training
  • Participate in local and regional workgroups and communicate trends, challenges, strategies and opportunities to local office teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of leadership/management experience in insurance, risk management or a similar industry
  • 5+ years of experience with business or commercial insurance
  • Ability to research regulatory issues and provide clear, concise and accurate information and guidance to clients
  • Knowledge of technical underwriting
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with customers, clients, colleagues and management
  • Strong management and demonstrated team-building skills
  • Ability to establish priorities and organize time efficiently to meet or exceed deadlines
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management or equivalent preferred, but not required
  • Property/Casualty license preferred, but not required
