About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze utilization and unit cost drivers of medical and pharmacy expenses
  • Develop recommendations related to plan designs, contributions, and types of care and providers
  • Provide in-person and virtual consultation to clients regarding employee benefits program strategies
  • Prepare claim projections and trend analyses for larger clients
  • Track claims, update forecasts, and compare funding mechanisms
  • Review and/or prepare annual benefit plan renewals
  • Interact with insurance carrier underwriting and actuarial personnel regarding ratings and premiums
  • Develop modeling tools and spreadsheets for benefit-plan decision-making
  • Develop models to predict IBNR reserve patterns with greater accuracy and reduced variance
  • Assist with integrating data analytics for disability, life, and other benefits
  • Act as an analytical resource for team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics or a similar field
  • In process of obtaining ASA designation
  • Exceptional analytical ability demonstrated through coursework and experience
  • Ability to form productive working relationships with team members, decision makers, and insurance carrier personnel
  • Energetic and self-directed, with strong commitment, motivation, work ethic, initiative, and follow-through
  • Adaptable and able to change priorities and multitask regularly to meet deadlines
  • Experience implementing new processes to improve company efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding client and company data and information
  • Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam is a plus, but not required
  • ASA designation is a plus, but not required
  • Insurance license required within 6 months of hire
