About the role

  • Technical and project lead within Mars Snacking for the Controls, Automation, and Digital Team
  • Development of control systems, digital initiatives, and physical automation for manufacturing processes and packaging systems
  • Deliver projects to provide competitive advantage and align to business objectives and goals
  • Develop and sustain vision, strategy and digital programs in support of Smart Factory initiatives
  • Controls design: developing control concepts, program design, functional and equipment specifications, instrumentation selection and operator interface development
  • Direct modification and installation of electrical, control systems, factory OT, physical automation, and smart factory technologies through capital projects and site consultant support
  • Lead, Develop, Coach and Mentor other Engineers
  • Collaborate with Regional Engineering Directors, Sr. Regional Engineering Managers, Regional Engineering Managers, Project Managers and key stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership and recommendations based on state of the art functional tools and methodologies
  • Develop and Lead projects that meet business and segment objectives
  • Drive initiatives that shorten new product and project cycle times and improve implementation and operational efficiencies
  • Establish key asset targets for segment and identify technology platforms
  • Work with R&D and cross functional teams to establish design for manufacturing criteria
  • Drive lean ways of working in the engineering process and as a project deliverable
  • Drive decisions to improve business measurements such as ROTA, FATR
  • Provide alternatives with value added engineering and lean design
  • Support the development of technology platforms and identify, protect and expand intellectual property
  • Contribute to development of standards for equipment, systems and engineering processes
  • Develop external business relationships including construction contractors and engineering resources
  • Proactively develop practices and methodologies to increase effectiveness and reduce engineering costs

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering)
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, MBA or PMP certification considered preferred
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a relevant technical position with Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Broad understanding of engineering principals - knowledge of engineering disciplines: Process, Packaging, Electrical, Construction or Computer Services
  • In-depth understanding of functional engineering area of expertise
  • Experience building and supporting strategy and vision
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating cross functionally, communicating and listening to influence business stakeholders
  • Team and Project Management Experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to deliver safe, secure and environmentally responsible results
  • Experience mentoring and coaching other Engineers
  • Approximately 20-50% travel requirement
