About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Repair and test air brake valves for railroad applications according to company specifications

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment in a job related field
  • Experience using hand tools and pneumatic hand tools, cutting torch, welders, and pipe threader
  • Understanding of air brake schematics, brake valve diagrams, and part lists
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of a shop repair environment and work on locomotives
  • Ability to follow orders and communicate effectively with fellow workers and management
  • Ability to work well with others and learn all aspects of air brake repair and locomotive air brake system installation
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Availability to work nights, holidays, and weekends as required
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move heavy weights
  • Must complete additional job-related screening processes following a conditional offer, as permitted or required by law
