About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Managing a team of claims examiners possessing varied experience levels
- Overseeing the resolution of construction bodily injury and construction defect claims
- Providing direction, coaching, and training
- Conveys organization’s objectives and priorities to staff and measures progress towards stated goals
- Confirming coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
- Directing and monitoring assignments of new loss activity for construction bodily injury and construction defect claims
- Reviewing and approving correspondence and reports including coverage position letters and Large Loss Reports
- Reviewing and approving reserves and settlements in excess of the authority of the handling specialist
- Making recommendations concerning reserve changes to Senior Director or Senior Management
- Participating in review and discussion of large loss activity in the general liability book with interested stakeholders
- Ensuring that team adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations and internal performance objectives
- Assessing and evaluating individual specialist and team performance, providing feedback and developing training needs
- Preparing and distributing reports by collecting and summarizing information
- Assisting in preparation of budgets, evaluation of expenses and assess resource needs
- Fostering and encouraging strong relationships with internal stakeholders and customers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license
- Successful achievement of industry designations (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU) or I-Lead or other Management Training
- Minimum of 10 years of claims handling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Successful completion of 5 years as a Senior Claims Specialist or Executive Claims Specialist is a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to deliver outstanding customer service
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong desire for continuous improvement
