About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage the day-to-day work activities of a group of property underwriters and underwriting support staff
Work closely with the Northeast Leadership team and Product Line Leadership team to develop and execute on business and marketing strategies
Balance the team’s workloads and maintain appropriate staffing levels
Guide in risk selection and pricing
Underwrite new and renewal business in a profitable manner
Address career and training needs on an individual basis
Communicate effectively and ensure team has been adequately updated on matters relating to workflow or procedural changes
Oversee the overall quality of the unit’s performance and measures the underwriting team expertise through periodic audits

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree preferred
5-8 years of Wholesale Property Underwriting experience with a significant amount in the Small to Middle Market
Demonstrated aptitude to manage people and projects with a minimum of 2+ years managing underwriters
Proven ability to make sound underwriting decisions
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to achieve business goals and objectives
Demonstrated sales, marketing and relationship management skill
CPCU designation preferred.
