About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Working with the Professional Liability E&O, Managing Director in underwriting governance and continued development of the Lawyers Professional product line
- Providing leadership, direction and support to underwriting team(s)
- Responsible for product profitability, growth and retention of new and renewal business
- Building and maintaining relationships with internal resources (Claims, Actuarial, Product Development, IT, Operations, Regulatory, Product Leadership, Regions, various underwriting and underwriting support divisions etc.)
- Assisting in continued product development, strategy and portfolio management of the Lawyers Professional Liability product
- Managing and handling account referrals from the Lawyers underwriters
- Assisting underwriters in negotiations with brokers on program structure, premiums, retentions, and terms and conditions
- Ensuring account auditing and compliance
- Working cross functionally to improve underwriting optimization
- Acting as a knowledge expert on industry trends and facilitating effective underwriter training
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of ten years’ experience in underwriting, claims and/or brokering in Lawyers Professional Liability
- Four-year degree in business or related field from an accredited University/College, or equivalent related years of work experience
- Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent problem solving/decision making abilities
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills on both an internal and external basis
- Solid understanding of professional liability marketplace, industry specific emerging risks, and regulatory landscape
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
