About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Working with the Professional Liability E&O, Managing Director in underwriting governance and continued development of the Lawyers Professional product line
  • Providing leadership, direction and support to underwriting team(s)
  • Responsible for product profitability, growth and retention of new and renewal business
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal resources (Claims, Actuarial, Product Development, IT, Operations, Regulatory, Product Leadership, Regions, various underwriting and underwriting support divisions etc.)
  • Assisting in continued product development, strategy and portfolio management of the Lawyers Professional Liability product
  • Managing and handling account referrals from the Lawyers underwriters
  • Assisting underwriters in negotiations with brokers on program structure, premiums, retentions, and terms and conditions
  • Ensuring account auditing and compliance
  • Working cross functionally to improve underwriting optimization
  • Acting as a knowledge expert on industry trends and facilitating effective underwriter training

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in underwriting, claims and/or brokering in Lawyers Professional Liability
  • Four-year degree in business or related field from an accredited University/College, or equivalent related years of work experience
  • Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent problem solving/decision making abilities
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills on both an internal and external basis
  • Solid understanding of professional liability marketplace, industry specific emerging risks, and regulatory landscape
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
