About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Function as a lead nurse on shift and develop clinic assignments and duties for nursing staff
  • Support the ITR Nurse Manager and Supervisor with clinic compliance initiatives
  • Drive operational improvement and change management initiatives within the clinics
  • Mentor and provide guidance to ITR nursing staff
  • Orient new staff on job responsibilities, policies, procedures, and equipment use
  • Create and maintain an inclusive, positive employee culture
  • Analyze ITR needs and make recommendations to nursing leadership
  • Address and minimize pre-booking bottlenecks at the ITR
  • Review nursing documentation and Electronic Health Record queues to ensure tasks are completed
  • Ensure availability of equipment and supplies for daily clinic operations
  • Communicate with nursing staff and direct workflows
  • Ensure medically necessary care is completed before patients move from ITR to assigned housing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or ambulatory care setting
  • Valid, unrestricted Registered Nurse license issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or a recognized multistate compact license
  • Ability to work inside a jail and stand, walk, and bend for extended periods
  • Ability to handle high-volume work and communicate with a culturally diverse patient population
  • Ability to work day or night shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Active and valid BLS, CPR, and First Aid Certifications meeting AHA curriculum standards, with in-person skills testing and hands-on demonstration components, required upon hire
  • Ability to travel or float to various clinical locations within a 5-mile radius
  • Ability to respond to emergencies
  • Ability to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney
  • Ability to pass a fingerprint background check and maintain MCSO jail access
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation, including drug and alcohol testing for safety-sensitive positions
  • Correctional setting experience valued
  • Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) valued
  • Lead/senior nurse or clinical oversight experience valued
  • Experience managing workflow at a high-volume correctional booking or intake facility valued
