About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage staff and plan, direct, and manage the technical, budgetary, and administrative activities of the Planning Branch
Ensure the Branch achieves success in its planning studies
Interact with many external customers, including cities/towns and other agencies
Speak to the public, and manage and work with many consultants
Review the work of assigned staff to ensure work quality and timely accomplishment of tasks
Coordinate project budget and contract preparation and administration
Provide leadership, direction, and guidance in planning strategies and procedures
Compile and analyze data and prepare status reports

Requirements

What you’ll need

Four years of planning/project management experience, of which one year must have been supervisory
Bachelor’s degree in Planning or a closely related field
Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona Driver's license by the time of hire
AICP certification
Master’s degree in Planning or a related field
Public sector experience
Experience in the principles and practices of planning for community planning, hydrology, land use, economics, and project management
Experience in dealing with the public and in public presentations
