About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as an Engineer Associate Senior within the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Construction & Materials Division
- Work on Transportation and Maintenance Improvement Projects, including federally funded projects
- Process closeout documentation for TIP and MIP projects
- Monitor contractor compliance with federal requirements including Buy America Build America (BABA), Title VI, federal labor standards, and the Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) program
- Responsible for daily federal aid tasks, including project initiation through project closeout
- Utilize various software systems for project management, project scheduling, cost analysis, and federal labor compliance and DBE reporting
- Serve as the primary contact for public information, legal holds, and claims for the Construction & Materials Division
- Act as the primary contact for federal aid information for the Department
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two years of professional pre-registration civil engineering experience or hydrology experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, etc.), Landscape Architecture, Surveying, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field
- Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) may substitute for the experience requirement
- Postgraduate degrees in a related or professional-level experience may substitute for education or experience on a year-for-year basis
- Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire.
- Two or more years of experience in federal construction projects, Federal-aid highway or grant-funded services at the federal, state, or local government level, Arizona’s certification acceptance program, construction contract compliance of horizontal projects
