About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform systems administration activities using automation, scripting, and standardized procedures
  • Support Linux server operations, backups, patching, and integration with enterprise applications
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and manage system lifecycles
  • Troubleshoot complex operating-system-level, performance, and availability issues
  • Manage system services, storage, file systems, logging, and scheduled tasks
  • Integrate server applications with Active Directory and ERP systems
  • Configure applications to connect to backend databases
  • Install and configure SSL certificates
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with occasional after-hours and weekend work
  • May lead or mentor lower-level team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or IT (Required)
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in IT and systems administration is required
  • Experience with automation, scripting, Linux server operations, backups, patching, and enterprise application integration
  • Experience with VMware and ESXi
  • Experience configuring applications to connect to backend databases using MSSQL and/or other databases
  • Understanding of SSL and ability to install and configure certificates
  • Understanding of server applications and integration with Active Directory and ERP systems
  • Ability to work in a team environment and tactfully discuss issues with peers and leaders
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including occasional after-hours and weekend work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • May require ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48
