About the role

  • Under general supervision, the IT Project Manager-Intermediate for the Technology Infrastructure ASaP team is responsible for leading, planning, implementing, and coordinating moderately complex IT projects.
  • This role supports the Architect Solution and Partnership (ASaP) team by tracking, coordinating, and facilitating the execution of internal IT projects and initiatives.
  • The project manager ensures that solutions designed by the ASaP team—in collaboration with IT Partners and Orchestrators—are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Acts as the central communication point for internal projects, maintaining schedules, dependencies, risks, and progress reporting, while escalating complex issues to IT leadership.
  • The position is hybrid with occasional onsite visits. Candidates local to San Antonio are preferred.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency with project tracking tools (MS Project or similar).
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud, and enterprise services concepts.
  • Skilled in facilitating product and software evaluations, contributing to RFPs, participating in contracting, and IT procurements.
  • Sound knowledge of project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
  • Ability to synthesize information for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and solution-focused.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to rapidly isolate and solve computer or application system.
  • EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is required. Associate’s degree with additional experience may be considered.
  • EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years of experience coordinating IT projects, preferably in higher education or healthcare IT is required.
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Experience with project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Skilled in cross-domain IT collaboration with technical leads.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, track dependencies, and escalate risks.

  • Time Off - A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:
  • - Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
  • - Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
  • - Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
  • - Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
