About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner directly with the Vice President of Market Development to drive strategic fundraising outcomes across a region of market teams.
  • Serve as a thought partner, coach, and interim leader—providing critical support to teams navigating change, launching campaigns, or strengthening their development operations.
  • Elevate fundraising performance, improve donor engagement, and build long-term capacity across local teams.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Market Development to create and implement fundraising strategies tailored to each market’s goals and capacity.
  • Conduct development assessments and campaign planning strategies, incorporating data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and market-specific insights.
  • Use fundraising performance metrics and donor analytics to identify trends, gaps, and growth opportunities.
  • Execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on sustainable growth in unrestricted revenue.
  • Inspire a high-performance culture that consistently meets or exceeds goals through all revenue portfolios.
  • Provide short-term or project-based development leadership to local markets experiencing transitions or gaps in staffing.
  • Support the design and execution of major fundraising campaigns, events, and development initiatives.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CFRE preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit-development, peer to peer fundraising, as well as major gifts cultivation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects from planning through execution.
  • Strong critical thinking and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for various audiences.
  • Track record of working collaboratively with diverse teams, stakeholders, and donors.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the region and temporarily cover remotely for short-term assignments, as needed.
