About the role
- Mapbox is the leading real-time location platform powering navigation of people, packages, and vehicles
- Maps SDK team builds open-source libraries that power mobile maps across diverse devices
- Lead the Nav SDK team in advancing the maps and navigation ecosystem at Mapbox
- Mentor and develop engineers, fostering growth, creativity, and innovation
- Promote collaboration and data-driven decision making to fuel success
- Drive strategic objectives and align team work with company and product goals
- Partner with Product and Engineering to define product roadmaps for Maps SDKs
- Shape the vision and evolve rendering engines, contributing to business and product planning
Requirements
- Proven success managing technical teams to deliver impactful products (Leadership Experience)
- Familiarity with mobile development frameworks, tools, and best practices for building and deploying mobile apps across platforms (Technical Expertise)
- Track record of hiring and growing top technical talent (Talent Acquisition and Development)
- Commitment to monitoring, metrics, and continuous improvement processes (Operational Excellence)
- Ability to balance speed and quality to uphold an excellent developer experience (High Standards and Quality)
- Confidence in leading vision, strategy, and execution for high-impact projects (Ownership and Execution)
- Passion for solving customer problems and delivering delightful experiences (Customer Focus)
- Nice to have: Experience in Mobile SDK Development, including architecture and design patterns
- Nice to have: Knowledge of Maps and Location Technologies such as GIS systems
- Eligibility (internal applicants): 12 months tenure in current role at Mapbox or approval from org leader and HRBP; strong performance and not on a Performance Improvement Plan
