About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive retail route sales for regional independent retailers, convenience stores, schools, drugstores, and businesses served through direct-store-delivery deliveries
  • Secure new item placements
  • Integrate sales initiatives with senior management, sales, marketing, accounting, IT, and other departments
  • Work with the Sales Manager to secure profitable retail business
  • Manage and grow existing accounts and execute approved sales plans
  • Conduct business reviews and maintain relationships with regional and corporate retail-chain offices and field management
  • Seek new retail business and maintain relationships with corporate and regional buyers
  • Manage co-op funds and advertising allowances
  • Evaluate and coordinate DSD customer credits and report credits monthly to the Director of Sales
  • Evaluate and communicate school bid quotes and service issues
  • Coordinate pricing for assigned accounts through the Sales Manager and pricing department
  • Communicate competitive activity affecting sales volume and merchandising
  • Use current and future systems to perform job functions
  • Prepare weekly sales itineraries and communicate goals and sales objectives
  • Submit formal weekly sales activity reports to the Sales Manager, including category management and fact-based selling using market data
  • Lead sales efforts on account schematics
  • Coordinate trade-show entry forms, personnel, booth shipping, decorations, samples, setup, and dismantling
  • Work with Marketing to execute point-of-sale materials and approved marketing programs
  • Provide product samples to potential customers for demonstrations and competitive comparisons
  • Observe antitrust laws and implement pricing fairly and legally
  • Handle special projects as assigned
  • Perform light to moderate travel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must reside in North Carolina
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field and at least three years of account management experience in food, dairy, or related sales; OR at least seven years of retail, dairy, or related sales experience
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license
