Chief CPU Architect – dpISA
Manning Global AGChief CPU Architect designing and optimizing ARM ISAs for a top global technology client. Leading research and development of advanced architecture in a full-time office role in Cambridge, UK.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Spearhead the design, research, and maintenance of Arm ISA, ensuring alignment with industry-leading trends in processing capabilities, security, and memory management.
- Conduct advanced research on Arm ISAs, tracking and recording new developments, innovations, and trends in the field.
- Design and optimize advanced memory and security architectures, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and performance across various workloads.
- Lead the development of data processing ISAs (dpISA) such as SVE (Scalable Vector Extension), SME (Scalable Matrix Extension), SSE (Streaming SIMD Extensions), AVX10, etc., optimizing and deploying them for modern computing needs.
- Work closely with engineering, product management, and cross-disciplinary teams to integrate new architectural components and align designs with product needs.
- Stay at the forefront of technology trends, bringing innovative ideas to architecture development and guiding the team in exploring and adopting the latest advancements in the field.
- Lead a team of researchers and engineers, mentoring junior members and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, technical growth, and problem-solving.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A degree at university level or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive experience with Arm Instruction Set Architecture or other equivalent ISAs such as MIPS, Power or X86 (not RISC-V).
- In-depth knowledge of architecture specifications, design methodologies, and performance evaluation and optimization techniques.
- Proven track record of research and development in ISAs, including maintaining and evolving architectural designs over time.
- Strong experience in designing memory systems and security mechanisms, with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Hands-on experience designing and optimizing data processing ISAs, such as SVE/SME, SSE, AVX10, or similar data processing instruction sets for high-performance computing.
- Experience in leading and mentoring high-performing technical teams, providing guidance and fostering innovation in architectural research and development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to create and implement innovative solutions to complex architectural challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
